9 Bible Verses on Seeking Revenge

9 verses

In response to wrongdoing, the natural human inclination is to seek revenge, but Scripture teaches a different path. The book of Romans instructs believers not to avenge themselves, but rather to leave room for God's wrath, as He is the rightful judge (Romans 12:19). This theme is echoed in Proverbs, which warns against saying, "I'll get even" (Proverbs 20:22), and in Leviticus, where God commands love for one's neighbor, implying a rejection of revenge (Leviticus 19:18). Instead, Ephesians encourages believers to put away bitterness and anger, choosing forgiveness and kindness towards others (Ephesians 4:31-32).
