11 Bible Verses on Shaving

11 verses

In the Old Testament, certain laws and prophecies address the practice of shaving as a ritual or cultural expression. Leviticus 21:5 and Leviticus 19:27 prohibit priests and the general population, respectively, from shaving the sides of their heads or clipping the edges of their beards, likely to distinguish themselves from pagan practices. The prophets also use shaving as a symbol, as in Isaiah 7:20, where it represents humiliation and defeat. Additionally, Ezekiel 44:20 and Deuteronomy 14:1 provide further guidance on the treatment of hair in relation to spiritual identity and mourning.
