In the Bible, deliberately rejecting God's will and wandering from His path is a grave concern. The prophet Isaiah warns that sin separates us from God, as stated in Isaiah 59:2, while the wisdom of Proverbs 14:12 cautions that there are consequences for choosing a path that seems right but leads to destruction. The New Testament letters, such as 2 Peter and Hebrews, urge believers to remain faithful, lest they fall away, as described in 2 Peter 2:20-22 and Hebrews 6:4-6. Thankfully, 1 John 1:9 offers hope for restoration, promising forgiveness to those who confess their sins.

If indeed they have escaped the corruption of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, only to be entangled and overcome by it again, their final condition is worse than it was at first. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and then to turn away from the holy commandment passed on to them. However, there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray Him.) Then Jesus said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has granted it to him.” From that time on many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him. But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
For if you turn away and cling to the rest of these nations that remain among you, and if you intermarry and associate with them, know for sure that the LORD your God will no longer drive out these nations before you. Instead, they will become for you a snare and a trap, a scourge in your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land that the LORD your God has given you.
