1 “When anyone [a person, an individual] brings a grain offering [a meal offering, an oblation] to the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God], his offering [gift, sacrifice] must consist of fine flour [of the best meal, finely-ground flour]. He is to pour [to make something firm or hard] olive oil [highly valued oil] on it, put [to give, to set] frankincense [white resin used for incense, holy incense] on it, word study 2 and bring it to Aaron’s sons [the spiritual leaders, descendants of Aaron] the priests [the ones who serve God and lead others in worship]. The priest [the one who serves as a mediator between God and man] shall take a handful [a portion, a grasp] of the flour [fine flour, meal] and oil [olive oil], together with all the frankincense [a white resin used for incense, a fragrant offering], and burn this as a memorial portion [a reminder] on the altar [a place of sacrifice], an offering made by fire [a gift given to God, a sacrifice], a pleasing aroma [a soothing, sweet fragrance] to the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God, the one who is]. word study 3 The remainder [what is left, to remain] of the grain offering [gift, sacrifice] shall belong to Aaron [the first high priest] and his sons [descendants, heirs]; it is a most holy [set apart, sacred] part [portion, share] of the offerings [sacrifices, gifts] made by fire [burnt, consumed] to the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God]. word study 4 Now if you bring [as an act of worship, to present] an offering [a gift, a sacrifice] of grain [fine flour, meal] baked [cooked, prepared] in an oven [a place of fire, a furnace], it must consist of fine flour [unleavened, without yeast], either unleavened [without yeast, flat] cakes [buns, bread] mixed [blended, combined] with oil [olive oil] or unleavened [flat, without yeast] wafers [flatbread, thin cakes] coated [anointed, spread] with oil [olive oil, ointment]. word study 5 If your offering [gift to God] is a grain [meal] offering prepared [baked, cooked] on a griddle [flat plate, frying pan], it must be unleavened [without yeast, symbolizing purity] bread made of fine [refined, pure] flour mixed [mingled, combined] with oil [olive oil, symbolizing richness and abundance]. word study 6 Crumble [break into pieces, divide] it and pour [to flow, to cause to flow] oil [olive oil] on it; it is a grain [meal] offering [gift, sacrifice, namely a minchah]. word study 7 If your [offered as a gift, presented to God] offering [a gift or donation, often given to God as a sacrifice] is a grain [of wheat, barley, or other cereal] offering [a gift or donation, often given to God as a sacrifice] cooked [baked, prepared] in a pan [a saucepan or stew pan, a common kitchen vessel], it must consist of fine [pure, refined] flour [the fine powder of grain, often used in baking] with [mixed, combined] oil [olive oil]. word study 8 When you bring [present, offer] to the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God] the grain offering [meal-offering, gift] made in any of these ways [from these things], it is to be presented [brought near, offered] to the priest [spiritual leader, mediator], and he shall take [bring, approach] it to the altar [place of sacrifice, worship]. word study 9 The priest [the spiritual leader, mediator] is to remove [take away, lift up] the memorial portion [a reminder] from the grain offering [a gift] and burn [offer by fire] it on the altar [a place of sacrifice] as an offering [a sacrifice] made by fire, a pleasing aroma [soothing, a sweet savor] to the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God]. word study 10 But the remainder [what is left, to remain] of the grain offering [meal-offering, food offering] shall belong to Aaron [the first high priest] and his sons; it is a most holy [sacred, set-apart] part of the offerings [sacrifices, gifts] made by fire [burnt, consumed] to the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God]. word study 11 No grain offering [meal offering, gift of fine flour] that you present [bring near, offer to] to the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God] may be made [prepared, formed] with leaven [yeast], for you are not to burn [offer by fire, consume] any leaven [fermented dough] or honey [a sweet and valuable food] as an offering [sacrifice, gift] made by fire [a burnt offering, a fragrant aroma] to the LORD [the God of Israel]. word study 12 You may bring them to the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] as an offering [oblation, gift] of firstfruits [the beginning or first part of the harvest], but they are not [never] to be offered [presented, brought near] on the altar [place of sacrifice] as a pleasing [sweet, soothing] aroma [fragrance, scent]. word study 13 And you shall season [with care, to bring out the flavor] each of your grain offerings [meal offerings, gifts of fine flour] with salt [covenant faithfulness]. You must not leave [omit, neglect] the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offering [a gift, sacrifice]; you are to add [include, bring near] salt to each of your offerings [sacrifices, acts of worship]. word study 14 If [in the event that, when] you bring a grain offering [meal offering, gift of firstfruits] of firstfruits [early produce, initial harvest] to the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God], you shall offer [present, bring near] crushed heads [beaten grain, parched ears] of new grain [fresh ears, green corn] roasted [parched, dried] on the fire [flames, burning]. word study 15 And you are to put [pouring, placing upon] oil [olive oil, ointment] and frankincense [a white resin used for incense, a fragrant offering] on it; it is a grain offering [a gift, a meal-offering, a sacrifice to God]. word study 16 The priest [servant of God, spiritual leader] shall then burn [make a fire offering, turn into smoke] the memorial portion [reminder] of the crushed grain [beaten, ground into fine particles] and the oil [olive oil], together with all [everything, the entirety] its frankincense [white resin, fragrant incense], as an offering made by fire [burnt sacrifice, gift to God] to the LORD [Yehovah, the one true God]. word study
