Psalms 112

1 Hallelujah [praise the Lord]! Blessed [happy, fortunate] is the man [individual, person] who fears [reveres, stands in awe of] the LORD [Yehovah], who greatly [exceedingly, very much] delights [takes pleasure, is pleased] in His commandments [laws, instructions]. word study 2 His descendants [seed, offspring] will be [become, are] mighty [strong, powerful] in the land [earth, territory]; the generation [period of time, group of people] of the upright [just, righteous, Jashar] will be blessed [praised, honored, to bless]. word study 3 Wealth [substance, abundant resources] and riches [treasures, valuable possessions] are in his house [dwelling place, family home], and his righteousness [virtue, moral integrity] endures [stands firm, remains forever] forever [for all eternity, perpetually]. word study 4 Light [shines, arises] dawns in the darkness [misery, spiritual gloom] for the upright [straight, just, righteous]— for the gracious [merciful, kind], compassionate [merciful, sympathetic, full of pity], and righteous [just, made right with God, having God’s nature]. word study 5 It is well [pleasant, beneficial] with the man [male person, individual] who is generous [gracious, showing kindness] and lends [joins, provides] freely [without expectation of return], whose affairs [matters, things] are guided [sustained, supported] by justice [righteous judgment]. word study 6 Surely he will never [to the age, forever] be shaken [moved, disturbed]; the righteous [just, upright] man will be remembered [had in everlasting remembrance, in memorial] forever [for all eternity, always]. word study 7 He does not [will not, shall not] fear [be afraid of, have anxiety about] bad [evil, adverse] news [tidings, reports]; his heart [inner being, mind] is steadfast [fixed, established], trusting [having confidence, faith] in the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God]. word study 8 His heart [the seat of feelings, will, and intellect] is assured [established, sustained]; he does not [will not] fear [revere or be afraid], until [as far as, till the point when] he looks [sees, gazes] in triumph [victory, seeing his desire] on his foes [adversaries, enemies, those who hate him]. word study 9 He has scattered abroad [dispersed, given freely] his gifts [to the needy, the poor] to the poor [those in need, oppressed]; his righteousness [virtue, moral integrity] endures [stands, remains] forever [perpetually, for all eternity]; his horn [a horn; a hill or peak] will be lifted high [exalted, elevated] in honor [glory, great respect]. word study 10 The [morally wrong, guilty of sin] wicked man will see [behold, perceive] and be grieved [angry, provoked]; he will gnash [rub together in anger] his teeth and waste away [melt, disappear]; the desires [longings, yearnings] of the wicked [bad, evil-doers] will perish [be destroyed, lost]. word study
