Psalms 63

1 O God [my Savior, Redeemer], You are my God [the one I worship, adore]. Earnestly [with all my heart, diligently] I seek You; my soul [the innermost part of my being] thirsts [longs, yearns] for You. My body [physical being, flesh] yearns [deeply desires, craves] for You in a dry [parched, barren] and weary [exhausted, fatigued] land [wilderness, desert] without water [a place of spiritual desperation]. word study 2 So I have seen You [in Your holy presence] in the sanctuary [the Temple, a sacred place] and beheld [gazed upon, contemplated] Your power [strength, divine ability] and glory [majestic splendor, heavenly radiance]. word study 3 Because Your [steadfast, unwavering] loving devotion [kindness, mercy] is better [more precious, superior] than life [eternal existence, mortal breath], my lips will [praise, extol] glorify You [with reverence, in worship]. word study 4 So I will bless [praise, magnify] You as long as I live [am alive, have physical and spiritual life]; in Your name [character, reputation, authority] I will lift [raise, uplift] my hands [in worship, prayer, and celebration]. word study 5 My soul [inner being, the deepest part of me] is satisfied [fully content, at peace] as with the richest [most abundant, lavish] of foods [nourishment, spiritual feast]; with joyful [happy, cheerful] lips my mouth will praise [honor, worship] You [the Lord, my Savior]. word study 6 When I remember [think of, meditate on] You on my bed [place of rest, solitude], I think [meditate, ponder] of You through [during, in the midst of] the watches [nightly vigils, periods of prayer] of the night [darkness, time of quiet]. word study 7 For You [my Savior, Helper] are my help [support, deliverer]; I will sing [rejoice, shout for joy] for joy [happiness, gladness] in the shadow [protection, care] of Your wings. word study 8 My soul [followeth hard after, clings to] clings to You; Your [strong, right] right hand upholds [supports, lifts me up] me. word study 9 But those who seek [pursue, cleave to] my life [soul, living being] to destroy [desolate, kill] it will go [descend, be brought down] into the depths [lower parts, lowest regions] of the earth [the grave, the place of the dead]. word study 10 They [the wicked, those who oppose God] will fall [be slain, killed] to the power [strength, might] of the sword [weapon of war, instrument of judgment]; they will become [be given, assigned] a portion [prey, food] for foxes [jackals, wild dogs]. word study 11 But the king [the ruler, monarch] will rejoice [take great delight, be exceedingly glad] in God [the Almighty, Creator]; all who swear [take an oath, make a vow] by Him [the Lord] will exult [glory, praise], for the mouths [voices, speeches] of liars [those who speak falsehood, deceivers] will be shut [stopped, silenced]. word study
