Psalms 64
BSA1 Hear, O God [the Almighty, my Savior], my voice [cry, prayer] of complaint [lament, meditation]; preserve [keep, protect] my life [soul, being] from dread [fear, terror] of the enemy [foes, adversaries]. word study 2 Hide me [protect, shelter, and conceal] from the scheming [secret counsel, plots] of the wicked [evil-doers, wrongdoers], from the mob [tumult, insurrection, noisy crowd] of workers [those who do, perpetrate] of iniquity [evil, wickedness], word study 3 who sharpen [whet, make sharp] their tongues [like a sword, for attack] like swords and aim [bend their bows to shoot, direct] their bitter [poisonous, cruel] words like arrows [even bitter words, deadly words], word study 4 ambushing [lying in wait, secretly attacking] the innocent [upright, perfect ones] in seclusion [secret places, hidden areas], shooting [releasing arrows, suddenly attacking] suddenly [without warning, unexpectedly], without [having no] fear [apprehension, dread]. word study 5 They hold fast [encourage themselves, strengthen their resolve] to their evil [wicked, sinful] purpose [plan, intention]; they speak [commune, talk] of hiding [in secret, privily] their snares [traps, secret nets]. “Who [none, no one] will see [look at, notice] them [their actions, plans]?” they say [think, believe]. word study 6 They devise [plan and plot] injustice [evil, wrongdoing] and say [declare, affirm], “We have perfected [accomplished, completed] a secret [hidden, mysterious] plan [scheme, plot].” For the inner man [the heart, the soul] and the heart [the mind, the spirit] are mysterious [deep, profound]. word study 7 But God [the supreme Judge] will shoot [send out, launch] them with arrows; suddenly [all of a sudden, in an instant] they will be wounded [struck down, their strokes at once]. word study 8 They will be made to stumble [trip and fall, caused to fail], their own tongues [speech, words] turned against them [to their own harm, used as evidence]. All who see [look, observe, gaze] will shake their heads [in disgust, with contempt, in ridicule]. word study 9 Then all [every single one, the entire world] mankind will fear [be in awe, have reverence] and proclaim [declare, make known] the work [acts, deeds] of God [the Almighty, Creator]; so they will ponder [wisely consider, reflect on] what He has done [accomplished, brought about]. word study 10 Let the righteous [those who are just, upright] rejoice [be glad, trust] in the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God] and take refuge [go to for protection, safety] in Him; let all [every one, everything] the upright [those who are just, blameless] in heart [the inner being, the mind] exult [glory, praise]. word study
