2 Chronicles 20:14 Summary
This verse tells us that the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel, a Levite, and enabled him to speak God's message to the people of Judah. This is an important reminder that God is always with us, even in times of uncertainty or fear, and that He can use anyone to speak His message, as seen in 1 Corinthians 1:27. Just like Jahaziel, we can trust that God will give us the words to say and the courage to say them, even when we feel powerless or unsure, as promised in Matthew 10:19-20. By looking to God and trusting in His power, we can face any challenge that comes our way, just like the people of Judah did in 2 Chronicles 20:15-16.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who was Jahaziel and why is he significant in this passage?
Jahaziel was a Levite from Asaph's descendants, and he was significant because the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, enabling him to speak God's message to the people, as seen in 2 Chronicles 20:14, similar to how the Spirit of the LORD came upon other prophets in the Bible, such as Ezekiel in Ezekiel 2:2.
What does it mean for the Spirit of the LORD to come upon someone?
When the Spirit of the LORD comes upon someone, it means that God is empowering and guiding them to fulfill a specific task or to speak His message, as seen in 2 Chronicles 20:14 and also in Numbers 11:25-26 where the Spirit of the LORD came upon the seventy elders.
Why did the Spirit of the LORD come upon Jahaziel at this particular moment?
The Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel at this moment because the people of Judah were in a state of distress and uncertainty, and God wanted to reassure them of His presence and power, as seen in 2 Chronicles 20:12-13, similar to how God comforted His people in Isaiah 41:10.
How does this verse relate to the broader context of 2 Chronicles 20?
This verse is a turning point in the chapter, as it marks the moment when God begins to speak to His people through Jahaziel, providing them with guidance and reassurance in the face of the approaching army, as seen in 2 Chronicles 20:15-16, and is reminiscent of other times in the Bible when God spoke to His people through prophets, such as in 1 Samuel 23:2.
