I will turn against them. While they might have escaped this fire, another fire is going to burn them up. When I turn against them, then you will know that I am the Lord.

Ezekiel 15:7 Summary
In Ezekiel 15:7, God says He will set His face against those who have escaped the fire, and another fire will consume them. This means that God's judgment is not just a one-time event, but can come in different forms, as seen in Jeremiah 11:16. Just like a fire consumes everything in its path, God's judgment will consume those who are opposed to Him, but for those who trust in Him, He is a refuge and a source of hope, as stated in Psalm 91:2. By recognizing God's sovereignty and power, we can surrender to His will and experience His mercy and forgiveness, as invited in Isaiah 1:18.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean for God to 'set His face against' someone?
When God sets His face against someone, it means He is opposed to them and will not show them favor, as seen in Ezekiel 15:7 and also in Leviticus 17:10, where God sets His face against those who eat blood.
Is God being cruel by sending another fire to consume those who have already escaped?
God's judgment is not cruel, but rather a consequence of sin, as seen in Ezekiel 15:7, and is a call to repentance, as in Isaiah 1:18, where God invites those who are willing to come and reason with Him.
How can we know that God is the LORD when He sets His face against us?
According to Ezekiel 15:7, when God sets His face against us, we will know that He is the LORD, meaning we will recognize His sovereignty and power, as also stated in Exodus 7:5, where God's actions will cause the Egyptians to know that He is the LORD.
What is the significance of the fire in Ezekiel 15:7?
The fire in Ezekiel 15:7 represents God's judgment, as also seen in Jeremiah 11:16, where the LORD calls the people of Judah a green olive tree that He will set on fire due to their wickedness.
