8And I will cleanse them from all the iniquity they have committed against Me, and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against Me.
9So this city will bring Me renown, joy, praise, and glory before all the nations of the earth, who will hear of all the good I do for it. They will tremble in awe because of all the goodness and prosperity that I will provide for it. 10This is what the LORD says: In this place you say is a wasteland without man or beast, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted—inhabited by neither man nor beast—there will be heard againCross References

Jeremiah 33:8 Summary
This verse is a promise from God that He will forgive and cleanse us from all our sins, no matter how big or small they may seem. He wants to have a close relationship with us, and He is willing to forgive us and make us clean so that we can have that relationship. Just like in Psalm 103:12, where it says that God removes our sins from us as far as the east is from the west, God wants to separate us from our sins and give us a fresh start. By trusting in God's promise and turning to Him in faith, we can experience His forgiveness and cleansing in our own lives, just as it says in 1 John 1:9, that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to be cleansed from iniquity?
To be cleansed from iniquity means to be purified from sin and its consequences, as seen in Psalm 51:7 where David asks to be cleansed with hyssop, and in 1 John 1:9 where we are told that God is faithful to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
How can God forgive all sins of rebellion?
God can forgive all sins of rebellion because of His great love and mercy, as demonstrated in Romans 5:8 where we are told that God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, and in Isaiah 55:7 where we are encouraged to forsake our sinful ways and return to the Lord, who will have mercy on us and abundantly pardon.
Is this promise only for the Israelites or is it for everyone?
While this specific promise in Jeremiah 33:8 is made to the Israelites, the principle of God's forgiveness and cleansing is available to all people, as seen in Acts 10:43 where it is written that everyone who believes in Jesus receives forgiveness of sins through His name, and in 2 Peter 3:9 where we are told that the Lord is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
How can we apply this verse to our own lives?
We can apply this verse to our own lives by recognizing our own sin and rebellion against God, and then turning to Him in repentance and faith, trusting in His promise to forgive and cleanse us, just as we see in Luke 18:13-14 where the tax collector humbly cries out for mercy and is justified before God.
