2 Chronicles 22:2

Fourty and two yeers old] Heb. A son of fourty and two yeers. This is here to be taken of the continuance of Omries pedigree. He was great-grand-father to Ahaziah, the son of Athaliah, daughter of Ahab, son of Omri. Omri reigned as sole king, six yeers (1 Kings 16:23.) Ahab two and twenty (1 Kings 16:29.) Ahaziah, his son, two (1 Kings 22:51.) Joram, twelve (2 Kings 3:1.) Thus he began to reign in the two and twentieth yeer of his age (1 Kings 8:26.) and two and fourtieth of that stock, whereof he was the last branch.

daughter] Or, grand-childe.

He also, &c.] As well as Jehoram his father, chapter 21. 6.

to his destruction] By the allurement of the son of Ahab he went out gainst Jehu, and was slain, v. 7.

2 Chronicles 22:5

He walked also, &c.] He did not onely hear, but also, follow their counsell.

Ramoth-gilead] Or, Ramah. See on 1 Kings 4:13.

2 Chronicles 22:6

which were given him] Heb. wherewith they wouned him.

Azariah] Otherwise called Ahaziah, verse 1. and Jehahaz chap. 21. 17.

destruction] Heb. treading down.

was of God] Ordered by the divine providence. See on 1 Kings 12:15.

to cut off the house of Ahab] 2 Kings 9:7.

2 Chronicles 22:8

the sons of the brehren] See on King. 10. 13.

ministred to, &c.] Attended on his person, and were speciall officers under him.

2 Chronicles 22:9

And he sought Ahaziah] See the notes on 2 Kin. 9. 27.

they buried him] They who slew him, gave his servants leave to bury him.

the house, &c.] The children and kinred of Ahaziah, together with such as took part with him.
