Psalms 67

AOSN

Psalms 67:1-7

This anonymous prayer asks for God's blessing. The psalmist speaks about knowing and worshiping God among all nations (compare Psalms 64:9; 65:8). The prayer asks for God's name to remain holy and that his kingdom come (compare Matthew 6:9–13).

Psalms 67:1-2

This prayer is inspired by the priestly blessing in Numbers 6:24–26. God's kindness to Israel influences his reputation among other nations (see Psalm 96:1–3).

Psalms 67:3

  • God’s international reputation leads to his praise among the nations (see Psalm 138:4). Their chaos and rebellion will stop when they join Israel in praising God.

  • One God rules over everyone, and the nations will give thanks for God’s just rule (see Psalm 67:4).

Psalms 67:4

God delivers the ultimate justice that people seek (Psalms 96:10; 98:9).

Psalms 67:6-7
