Matthew 25
EdwardsMatthew 25:12
Mat. 25:12. “But He answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.” Romans 8:29, “For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren.” To judge of the force of this expression, see Matthew 25:12; Deuteronomy 33:9; Job 9:21, and Psalms 31:7. In Exodus 2:25, “God had respect unto them,” in the original is, “God knew them.” Thus the word in Hebrew, is a kinsman or near friend, and also kindred and affinity, from the verb to know. See Job 9:21 and Proverbs 12:10, “‘Regardeth’ the life of his beast,” in the original is, “‘Knoweth’ the life of his beast.”
Mat. 25:34
Matthew 25:34
Mat. 25:34. “Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” That this has a special respect to the decree of election may be argued from Mark 10:40. See Exodus 23:20.
