I know not what our Christian faith means unless these things are true, unless it be true that behind all enthusiasm and energy must be the deep life of the soul opening itself to God, and that the soul, opening itself to God and filled with Him, becomes by the possession of God its own true self, recognizes this as its own natural condition, and sees how unmanly and unnatural is any other way of living.
