My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace. His oath, His covenant, His blood support me in the whelming flood. When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. Day by day and with each passing moment, strength I find to meet my trials here. Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment, I've no cause for worry or for fear. He whose heart is kind beyond all measure, gives unto each day what He deems best. Lovingly it's part of pain and pleasure, mingling toil with peace and rest. Every day the Lord Himself is near me, with a special mercy for each hour. All my cares He faint would bear and cheer me, He whose name is Counselor and Power. The protection of His child in treasure, is a charge that on Himself He laid. As Your days, Your strength shall be in measure, this the pledge to me He made. Help me then in every tribulation, so to trust Your promises, O Lord. That I lose not faith's sweet consolation, offered me within Your holy Word. Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meet me, e'er to take as from a Father's hand. One by one the moment lends fleeting, till I reach the promised land. Be still, my soul, the Lord is on Thy side. Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to Thy God to order and provide. Every change be faithful with. Be still, my soul, Thy best, Thy heavenly friend leads to joy. Be still, my soul, Thy God doth undertake, to guide the future as He has the past. Thy hope, Thy confidence let nothing shake. All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul, the waves and winds still know. His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below. Be still, my soul, when dearest friends depart. And all is darkened in the veil of tears. Then Thou shalt better know His love, His heart. Who comes to soothe Thy sorrow and Thy fears. Be still, my soul, Thy Jesus can repay. From His own fullness all He takes away. Be still, my soul, the hour is hastening on. When we shall be forever with the Lord. When disappointment, sorrow for God, love's purest joys restored. Be still, my soul, when change and tears are past. Our safe and blessed we shall meet at last. Am I a soldier of the cross, a father of the Lamb? And shall I fear to own His cross, or blush to speak His name? Must I be carried to the skies on flowery beds of ease? While others fought to win the prize and sailed through bloody seas? Are there no foes for me to face? Must I not stem the flood? Is this vile world a friend of grace to help me unto God? Sure, I must fight if I would reign. Increase my courage, Lord. I'll bear the toil and endure the pain. Supported by my warriors, war shall conquer, though they die. They see the triumph from above, I face discerning high. An illustrious Lord shall rise, and all Thy armies shine. In rogues of victory through the skies, the glory shall be Thine. A foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in His excellent Word. What more can He say than to you He has said, to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled? Vision in sickness, in health, in poverty's vale, or abounding in wealth, at home or abroad, on the land, on the sea, as your days do do. Strength ever be, fear not dismay, for I am your God and will still give you aid. I'll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand. Upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand. Enthroners, I call you to hope. The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow. For I will be with you, your troubles to pass, and sanctify to you your deepest distress. When through fiery trials your pathway shall lie, by grace all sufficient shall be your supply. The flame shall not hurt you, I only design, your dross to consume and your gold to refine. Even down to old age all my people shall prove my sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love. And when graying hairs shall their temples adorn, like lambs they shall still in my bosom be born. The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose, I will desert to his foes. That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never, no never, no never forsake.
