Biblical Dispensations

1 sermons

Biblical dispensations refer to the distinct periods in God's plan for humanity, as revealed through Scripture. Each dispensation represents a unique way in which God interacts with humanity, revealing His will and purpose. For instance, in Genesis 1:28, God establishes the mandate for humanity to fill the earth and subdue it, marking the beginning of the creation dispensation. As history unfolds, we see the covenant with Noah in Genesis 9:11, which signifies a new phase in God's dealings with mankind following the flood. The Law given to Moses in Exodus 19:5-6 introduces another significant dispensation, where Israel is called to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation, setting the stage for the coming of Christ. The New Testament presents the dispensation of grace, as articulated in Ephesians 3:2, where Paul reveals that salvation is offered to all through faith in Jesus Christ, transcending the boundaries of the previous covenants. Ultimately, the culmination of God's plan will be seen in the final dispensation, as described in Revelation 21:1-4, where God will dwell with His people in a new heaven and new earth. Understanding these dispensations enriches our comprehension of God's overarching narrative and His redemptive work throughout history.
