Divine Promise

1 sermons

Divine promise is a foundational theme woven throughout Scripture, illustrating God's unwavering commitment to His people. From the covenant with Abraham, where God assures him that he will be the father of many nations (Genesis 17:4-5), to the prophetic declarations of a coming Messiah, the Bible reveals a God who actively engages with humanity through His promises. In Isaiah 41:10, we find reassurance in God's promise of presence and strength: 'Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.' This promise is fulfilled in the New Testament, where Jesus, speaking of the Holy Spirit, refers to Him as the 'Spirit of Promise' (Acts 1:4), emphasizing the ongoing nature of God's commitment to guide and empower believers. Furthermore, the Apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 1:20 that 'all the promises of God find their Yes in Him,' underscoring the centrality of Christ in the fulfillment of divine promises. As believers, we are encouraged to hold fast to these promises, as stated in Hebrews 10:23, which calls us to 'hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.' Through understanding divine promise, we grasp the depth of God's love and faithfulness, which sustains us in our spiritual journey.
