This theme is reminiscent of the Israelites' 40-year sojourn in the wilderness, as described in Exodus 13:18 and Deuteronomy 8:2, where God led them to humble and test them, yet ultimately to strengthen their faith and dependence on Him. Similarly, in the Christian life, times of spiritual wilderness can serve as opportunities for growth and intimacy with God, as expressed in Psalms 23:4, where David affirms his trust in God's presence even in the darkest valleys.
