11 Bible Verses on Discernment

11 verses

The ability to distinguish right from wrong, truth from error, is a vital aspect of the Christian life. According to 1 John 4:1 and Hebrews 5:14, believers are called to test and evaluate the spirits and teachings they encounter, exercising a discerning heart and mind. In Philippians 1:9-10, the apostle Paul prays for the church to abound in knowledge and discernment, able to approve what is excellent. The Bible also highlights the importance of a sharp and discerning word, as seen in Hebrews 4:12, and the value of asking God for discernment, as exemplified by Solomon's request in 1 Kings 3:9.
