Context — Jeroboam’s Hand Withers
2And he cried out against the altar by the word of the LORD, “O altar, O altar, this is what the LORD says: ‘A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David, and upon you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense upon you, and human bones will be burned upon you.’”
3That day the man of God gave a sign, saying, “The LORD has spoken this sign: ‘Surely the altar will be split apart, and the ashes upon it will be poured out.’” 4Now when King Jeroboam, who was at the altar in Bethel, heard the word that the man of God had cried out against it, he stretched out his hand and said, “Seize him!” But the hand he stretched out toward him withered, so that he could not pull it back.Cross References

1 Kings 13:2 Summary
This verse is about a man of God who speaks out against an altar where people were worshiping falsely, saying that one day a king named Josiah would come and clean up the mess by getting rid of the false priests and their practices, as a fulfillment of God's judgment. This shows us that God is serious about how we worship Him and wants us to follow His commands, like in Deuteronomy 12:1-14. The prophecy also points to a future time of reform and cleansing, giving us hope for God's redemption, similar to what we see in 2 Chronicles 34:3-7. By looking at this verse, we can learn about the importance of true worship and obedience to God's voice.
