Context — Ahaziah Reigns in Judah
7Ahaziah’s downfall came from God when he went to visit Joram. When Ahaziah arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
8So while Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he found the rulers of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah’s brothers who were serving Ahaziah, and he killed them. 9Then Jehu looked for Ahaziah, and Jehu’s soldiers captured him while he was hiding in Samaria. So Ahaziah was brought to Jehu and put to death. They buried him, for they said, “He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart.” So no one was left from the house of Ahaziah with the strength to rule the kingdom.Cross References

2 Chronicles 22:7 Summary
This verse tells us that Ahaziah's decision to visit Joram led to his downfall, which was ordained by God. Ahaziah's alliance with Joram, who was part of the wicked house of Ahab, ultimately resulted in his own destruction, as seen in 2 Chronicles 22:7-9. This teaches us to be careful about the company we keep and the choices we make, as advised in 1 Corinthians 15:33 and Psalm 1:1-3. By seeking God's guidance and following His will, we can avoid a similar fate and live a life that is pleasing to Him, as encouraged in Matthew 6:33 and John 10:10.

This verse demonstrates God's sovereignty over the affairs of men, as seen in 2 Chronicles 22:7, where Ahaziah's actions ultimately lead to his downfall, illustrating that God is in control of all events, as stated in Proverbs 21:1 and Romans 11:36.
What can we learn from Ahaziah's visit to Joram?
Ahaziah's visit to Joram serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of associating with those who do not follow God, as warned in 2 Corinthians 6:14-17, and the importance of seeking godly counsel, as advised in Proverbs 11:14 and 24:6.
