2 Samuel 22:50 Summary

[This verse means that because God has been so good to David, David wants to tell everyone about it and praise God's name. David is saying that he will thank God and sing about Him not just in his own country, but among all nations, because God is worthy of praise from everyone. This reminds us that we too can praise God for the good things He has done in our lives, and we can do this in many different ways, such as through prayer, song, or telling others about His love, as seen in Psalms 107:1. By praising God, we can inspire others to seek and worship Him, and bring glory to His name.]

Cambridge Bible on 2 Samuel 22:50

50. The celebration of Jehovah’s faithfulness to His servant is not to be confined within the narrow limits of Israel. His praise is to be proclaimed among the heathen, who, as they are brought under the dominion of His people, may also be brought to the knowledge of Jehovah. Cp. Psalms 96:3; Psalms 96:10. This verse is quoted by St Paul in Romans 15:9 (along with Deuteronomy 32:43; Psalms 117:1; Isaiah 11:10), to prove that the Old Testament anticipated the admission of the Gentiles to the blessings of salvation.
