Context — Manna and Quail from Heaven
19Then Moses said to them, “No one may keep any of it until morning.”
20But they did not listen to Moses; some people left part of it until morning, and it became infested with maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them. 21Every morning each one gathered as much as was needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away.Cross References

Exodus 16:19 Summary
This verse means that God wants us to trust in His daily provision and not try to store up or keep things for ourselves. Moses told the Israelites not to keep any of the manna until morning, because God would provide for them again the next day, as seen in Exodus 16:4. This teaches us to seek God daily for our needs and to trust in His timing, rather than trying to control or manipulate our circumstances (Matthew 6:11, Psalm 37:3-7). By trusting in God's daily provision, we can learn to be content with what we have and to seek Him first in all things.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did Moses instruct the Israelites not to keep any of the manna until morning?
Moses instructed the Israelites not to keep any of the manna until morning because God wanted them to trust in His daily provision, as seen in Exodus 16:4, where God says He will rain down bread from heaven for them to eat, and also to avoid the manna becoming infested with maggots and smelling, as happened in Exodus 16:20.
What would happen if the Israelites kept the manna until morning?
If the Israelites kept the manna until morning, it would become infested with maggots and begin to smell, as stated in Exodus 16:20, which is what happened when some of them disobeyed Moses' instruction.
Is this verse relevant to our lives today?
Yes, this verse is still relevant today, as it teaches us to trust in God's daily provision and not to try to store up or rely on our own resources, but to seek Him daily for our needs, as Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:11 to ask for daily bread.
How does this verse relate to the concept of faith and trust in God?
This verse relates to the concept of faith and trust in God because it shows that God wants us to trust in His provision and timing, rather than trying to control or manipulate our circumstances, which is a key theme in the Bible, such as in Psalm 37:3-7 and Proverbs 3:5-6.
