Ezekiel 29:19 Summary
[This verse means that God is in control of all the nations, including Egypt and Babylon, and He can give or take away land and wealth as He wants. God gave Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar as a reward for his army's hard work, as seen in Ezekiel 29:18. This shows that God is fair and will reward those who serve Him, even if they don't know Him, like Nebuchadnezzar. Just like God rewarded Nebuchadnezzar's army, He will also reward us for our service to Him, as promised in Matthew 25:21 and 1 Corinthians 3:14.]
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did God give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon?
God gave the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar as wages for his army, because they had labored strenuously against Tyre without receiving any payment, as seen in Ezekiel 29:18. This act was also done for God's own purposes, as stated in Ezekiel 29:20.
What does this verse reveal about God's control over nations?

How does this verse relate to the concept of God's judgment?
This verse is an example of God's judgment on a nation, in this case Egypt, and demonstrates that God will execute His judgment on all nations, as prophesied in Ezekiel 25:17 and Isaiah 13:1-22.
What is the significance of Nebuchadnezzar's army receiving wages from Egypt?
The fact that Nebuchadnezzar's army receives wages from Egypt signifies that God is the One who rewards and compensates those who serve Him, even if it is through the actions of a pagan king, as seen in Ezekiel 29:19 and Proverbs 11:18.
