man’s. Hebrew. ’ish. App-14.

sent. Compare Exodus 4:16.

made = He caused. So Aramaean, Septuagint, Syriac, and Vulgate.

God. Hebrew. Elohim. App-4.

of Hazor. Septuagint reads “of Jabin king of”.

sinned. Hebrew chata’. App-44.

1 Samuel 12:11

and Bedan. The Septuagint, Syriac, and Arabic read “and Barak” (the names being much alike in Hebrew). and Samuel. The Peshito (or Revised Syriac) reads “and Samson”. But, if “Samuel”, these are not Samuel’s words, but Jehovah’s in Samuel’s mouth.

send. It had to be sent, for rain in harvest was most exceptional; and would be regarded as sent in judgment. Compare Proverbs 26:1.

Pray. Moses and Samuel specially named as intercessors. Psalms 99:6. Jeremiah 13:1.

evil. Same word as “wickedness” above.

will not forsake. Compare Genesis 28:15. Joshua 1:5. Quoted in Romans 11:1, Romans 11:2.
