1 Samuel 30:1

SMitten] Forced it, and sacked it.

1 Samuel 30:7

Bring me hither] Come hither into my presence to enquire of the Lord, having the breast-plate which is upon the Ephod, about thee, as 1 Samuel 23:9.

1 Samuel 30:14

Cherethites] It was a nation neere to the Philistines, or else part of them. See Ezekiel 25:16. Zephaniah 2:5 Of Caleb] of the countrey belonging to Calebs posterity, Josh. 14. 13. & 15. 13.

Spread abroad] the Italian addeth, Without any watch] Heb. at randome.

Vpon Camels] That is to say, upon Coursers, or Dromedaries.

Heards] Which the Amalekites had gotten in other places besides Ziklag and Jewy Those other cattell] which were Davids and his followers.

1 Samuel 30:24

So shall his] Italian, Ought his to be] not only in naturall equity, they being commanded to stay behinde; and executing a charge so needfull for the whole army: it being reasonable, that he who hath preserved the common goods, should be paid out of the common stock. But also by Gods expresse law, Numbers 31:27. Josh. 2. 8.

Bethel] This word signifieth, house of God, whereby some have imagined that it ought to be understood of Kiriath eam, where the Arke was, 〈◊〉 Sam. 7. 1.
