Discord, Fable of
Sowing dragon's teeth brought warriors who fought each other, causing widespread destruction.
The brave Cadmus slew a fierce dragon with his javelin, and was directed to take his teeth, and sow them in the earth. Hardly had he done so when the clods began to move, and the points of spears to appear above the surface; next came up helmets with their nodding plumes; next the shoulders and breasts and limbs of men, with weapons; and, at length, a harvest of armed warriors. They commenced a war among themselves, and fought till nearly all were slain. Five only that sprang from the dragon's teeth escaped destruction.
