The faithful transmission of God's character and works from one generation to the next is a recurring theme in Scripture. In Psalms 145:4 and 71:18, the psalmists express their desire to declare God's praises to future generations, while Exodus 34:6-7 and 20:5-6 highlight the importance of passing on the knowledge of God's mercy and justice. The psalmist also notes in Psalms 102:18 that the people yet to be created will praise the Lord, emphasizing the idea that God's work is not limited to one generation, but extends to all those who will come after. This concept underscores the responsibility of believers to share their faith with others.

One generation will commend Your works to the next, and will proclaim Your mighty acts—
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come.
Then the LORD passed in front of Moses and called out: “The LORD, the LORD God, is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness, maintaining loving devotion to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin. Yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished; He will visit the iniquity of the fathers on their children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing loving devotion to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Let this be written for the generation to come, so that a people not yet created may praise the LORD.
For the LORD is good, and His loving devotion endures forever; His faithfulness continues to all generations.
Listen, my son, and receive my words, and the years of your life will be many. I will guide you in the way of wisdom; I will lead you on straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be impeded; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction; do not let go. Guard it, for it is your life. Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it; do not travel on it. Turn from it and pass on by. For they cannot sleep unless they do evil; they are deprived of slumber until they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until midday. But the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom; they do not know what makes them stumble. My son, pay attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not lose sight of them; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to the whole body. Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow springs of life. Put away deception from your mouth; keep your lips from perverse speech. Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead. Make a level path for your feet, and all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your feet away from evil.
We will not hide them from their children, but will declare to the next generation the praises of the LORD and His might, and the wonders He has performed.
