13“Go and inquire of the LORD for me, for the people, and for all Judah concerning the words in this book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the LORD that burns against us because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book by doing all that is written about us.” 14So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went and spoke to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, the keeper of the wardrobe. 2 Kings 22:12 Summary
In 2 Kings 22:12, King Josiah commands a group of trusted individuals to go and inquire of the Lord about the Book of the Law that has been found. This shows that the king is taking the discovery of God's Word seriously and wants to understand what it means for him and his people, similar to the example of the Psalmist in Psalm 119:18. Just like King Josiah, we should seek to understand and obey God's Word, as encouraged in Deuteronomy 29:29 and Matthew 22:37-40. By doing so, we can demonstrate our love for God and our commitment to following Him, as seen in John 14:15 and 1 John 5:3.
Frequently Asked Questions

What can we learn from King Josiah's response to the Book of the Law?
King Josiah's response, as seen in 2 Kings 22:11-13, demonstrates humility, a willingness to listen, and a desire to obey the Lord, as also seen in the example of the Psalmist in Psalm 119:33-40, and serves as a model for our own response to God's Word, as encouraged in James 1:22-25.
