Context — The Slaughter of Gog’s Armies
7So I will make My holy name known among My people Israel and will no longer allow it to be profaned. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
8Yes, it is coming, and it will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD. This is the day of which I have spoken. 9Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out, kindle fires, and burn up the weapons—the bucklers and shields, the bows and arrows, the clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel.Cross References

Ezekiel 39:7 Summary
[Ezekiel 39:7 is a promise from God that He will make sure His people Israel, and all nations, know how holy and special He is. This means He won't let people disrespect Him or use His name in bad ways. As we see in Psalm 138:2, God's name is holy and He will make it known. He wants everyone to understand that He is the one true God, and this will happen when He acts in power to defend and restore Israel, just like He promised in Isaiah 43:25.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean for God's name to be 'profaned'?
To profane God's name means to treat it as common or to use it in a way that is disrespectful, as seen in Leviticus 22:32. In Ezekiel 39:7, God promises to put an end to this kind of disrespect among His people Israel.
How will the nations come to know that God is the LORD?
As God acts in power to defend and restore Israel, the nations will be forced to acknowledge His authority and holiness, much like in Ezekiel 36:23 where God says, 'I will vindicate the holiness of My great name'
What is the significance of God being known as 'the Holy One in Israel'?
This title emphasizes God's unique relationship with Israel and His commitment to their holiness, as seen in Isaiah 30:15 where God is called 'the Holy One of Israel'
Is this verse talking about a specific event in history or a future promise?
While Ezekiel 39:7 is part of a larger prophecy about God's judgment on Gog and Magog, the verse itself looks forward to a time when God's name will be universally honored, which is a future promise tied to the fulfillment of God's plans for Israel, as hinted in verses like Isaiah 2:2-3
