21For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim. He will rouse Himself as in the Valley of Gibeon, to do His work, His strange work, and to perform His task, His disturbing task.
22So now, do not mock, or your shackles will become heavier. Indeed, I have heard from the Lord GOD of Hosts a decree of destruction against the whole land. 23Listen and hear my voice. Pay attention and hear what I say.Cross References

Isaiah 28:21 Summary
[This verse means that God is going to take action, just like He did in the past when He helped His people, as in the stories of Mount Perazim and the Valley of Gibeon. He will do what needs to be done, even if it seems strange or unexpected to us (as in Isaiah 55:8-9). We can trust that God is in control and is working to accomplish His purposes, even when we don't understand what's happening. By looking to the past and seeing how God has worked, we can have confidence in His power and might, as in Psalm 121:4.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the significance of Mount Perazim and the Valley of Gibeon in Isaiah 28:21?
These locations are references to times in Israel's history when God intervened on their behalf, such as in 2 Samuel 5:20 and Joshua 10:10-14, demonstrating His power and might.
What does it mean that God will do 'His strange work' and 'His disturbing task'?
This phrase suggests that God's actions will be unexpected and perhaps even unsettling, as seen in Isaiah 55:8-9, where God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts.

Isaiah 28:21 serves as a reminder that God is sovereign and will act in judgment, as seen in Isaiah 28:19-20, and that His people should not mock or ignore His warnings, lest they face greater judgment, as in Isaiah 28:22.
What can we learn from God's decision to 'rise up' and 'rouse Himself'?
