Context — The Call of Jeremiah
16I will pronounce My judgments against them for all their wickedness, because they have forsaken Me, and they have burned incense to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.
17Get yourself ready. Stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not be intimidated by them, or I will terrify you before them. 18Now behold, this day I have made you like a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.Cross References

Jeremiah 1:16 Summary
[Jeremiah 1:16 tells us that God will judge those who have turned away from Him to worship other gods and their own creations. This means that when we put anything above God, whether it's money, status, or our own accomplishments, we are essentially worshiping idols. As seen in Exodus 20:3-5, God commands us to have no other gods before Him, and in Deuteronomy 6:14-15, we are warned against worshiping other gods. By putting God first in our lives, we can avoid the judgment that comes with idolatry and instead experience His love and forgiveness.]
