Joshua 11:6 Summary
In Joshua 11:6, God tells Joshua not to be afraid of the enemy because He will deliver them into their hands. This shows us that God is powerful and faithful, and we can trust Him to take care of us, just like He took care of the Israelites. As it says in Psalm 27:1, 'The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?' We can have courage and faith, knowing that God is with us, as promised in Joshua 1:5-6 and Matthew 28:20. By trusting in God's power and promises, we can overcome any challenge, just like Joshua and the Israelites did.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to 'hamstring their horses' in Joshua 11:6?
To hamstring a horse means to cut the tendons in its legs, making it unable to run or walk, as seen in Joshua 11:6, this was a military tactic to prevent the enemy from using their horses in future battles, similar to the instructions given in Deuteronomy 11:4-5 where God fought for the Israelites against their enemies.
Why did God instruct Joshua to burn up the chariots?
God instructed Joshua to burn up the chariots to prevent the Israelites from using them for their own purposes, as indicated in Joshua 11:6, this was to show that their victory came from God, not from their own strength or military might, similar to the principle in Proverbs 21:31 which says that the horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.
How could Joshua trust that God would deliver the enemy into their hands?
Joshua could trust God because of the many times God had already delivered the Israelites from their enemies, such as in the Exodus from Egypt, as recorded in the book of Exodus, and the promise God made to Joshua in Joshua 1:5-6 that He would be with him wherever he went.
What does this verse teach us about faith and trust in God?
This verse teaches us that we can trust God to deliver us from any situation, just like He delivered the Israelites, as seen in Romans 8:28 and Psalm 23:4, and that we should have faith in His power and promises, even when faced with overwhelming odds, as Joshua did in Joshua 11:6.
