- Verse John 18:24 is added in the middle or at the end of verse 13 by a few witnesses probably because the other three gospels say nothing about the trial before Annas, and John apparently calls both Annas and Caiaphas “high priest” which confused a few copyists. Verse 24 is also in its proper place in those manuscripts, except for the Sinaitic Syriac which has the verse order: John 18:13; John 18:24; John 18:14-15; John 18:19-23; John 18:16-18; John 18:25-27.
