However, it is also possible that it was accidently omitted when a copyist’s eye jumped from eike “without cause” to the next word enokhos “liable.”

KJV ASV NIV : The words “should deliver you up” were either omitted as a literary refinement, or added to complete the parallel with the first part of the verse. Since manuscripts from two different types of ancient text (Alexandrian and pre-Caesarean) leave out the words, and similar words are found in the parallel in Luke 12:58, it seems more likely that they were added here to increase the parallelism.
