- KJV RSVnCOMMENTS: The phrase “who does not follow us” seems to have been added from the last part of the verse: “because he was not following us.” This last phrase is omitted by those manuscripts that are listed above in braces. In them the phrase was apparently moved to this position and the wording changed slightly.

- In Greek the clauses in question begin with “every” and end with “salted.” While it is possible that one or the other of them was accidently omitted through a mistake of the eye, it is more likely that the second clause was added from Leviticus 2:13 as an explanation of the first, perhaps at first in the margin, and from there was either substituted for the first, or added to the text.
